Urologic Oncology Fellowship Program

1-Year Clinical Fellowship in Urologic Oncology

The UCLA Institute of Urologic Oncology is currently seeking a one-year clinical fellow in urologic oncology to start July 1, 2018. This position is strictly clinical and not SUO-accredited. The fellow will work under the direct supervision of UCLA's world-class urologic oncology faculty in the ongoing weekly activities of the UCLA Kidney, Prostate and Bladder Cancer Programs, as well as in the care of patients with testicular and other genitourinary malignancies. The fellow will be actively involved in the diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients, including evaluation, presentation, consultation with medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists. The fellow will also interact with protocol nurses and contribute to decisions on treatment and enrollment in clinical trials. At least two full days each week will be devoted to developing hands-on surgical expertise in the operating room. The fellow will become familiar with a wide variety of endoscopic, open, laparoscopic, and advanced robotic procedures. Participation will also include the following weekly conferences: Urologic Oncology Tumor Board, GU Pathology Review, Kidney Cancer Conference, Urology Grand Rounds, Clinical Trials Working Group. In addition, the fellow will participate in the educational training programs for the residents and medical students, including journal clubs and teaching rounds. Applicants must have completed, or anticipate completing, a urology residency in an ACGME-accredited program prior to July 1, 2017 and also must qualify for California medical licensure. Applicants interested in two years of training including an additional year of research may be eligible for an SUO accredited fellowship position.
